There’s a reason it’s the fastest-growing sport in America.

Here’s why.

A sport for all.

Social.

Pickleball was founded on the principle of “open play.” That means that anybody can play at any time, anywhere they want to. There are a myriad of options in the city to find a game, and you will be welcomed regardless of your skill level. All great players started right where you’re starting, at the beginning. It’s pickleball’s social nature that draws almost everyone in. The Club has a calendar packed with opportunities to meet other players.

Competitive.

Once you’re comfortable playing the sport, the sky is the limit in terms of how competitive you want to be. There are two pro tours and almost countless tournaments in the Midwest alone. Pickleball is great for reigniting the competitive spark you used to have in tennis or other athletic pursuits…even if they’re many years in the rearview mirror! The Club’s quarterly leagues and three annual tournaments provide a great place to get competitive.

Fun!

This is the word that comes out of every single player’s mouth when they describe the game. Pickleball is an inherently fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It is played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net. It is played as doubles or singles, with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. The USAPA has a great resource for more detailed info on the history of the game, equipment, etc.
